Ms. C. Denise Edmondson

Hello everyone!

My name is Ms. C. Denise Edmondson and I am so excited to be on the second grade team again at Cooper Academy! Go Rockets! I love teaching! I am thrilled to be your teacher, and I am looking forward to a year of learning, fun and adventures. I can't wait to learn all about you, but first I'll tell you a little about me.

I was reared in Wilson County just outside the Johnston County line. I have one son. I have four brothers. I am the only girl! I attended James B. Hunt High, Wilson NC. The University of Mount Olive is where I attended college and obtained my degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been in the Johnston County School System for nineteeen years.

There is so much that I am looking forward to this year! Here are a few things that second grade has to offer. In math this year, your second grader will continue to explore the logic of numbers. He/she will also start to learn that all the number facts are related in a systematic way. In reading, students are challenged to become more fluent readers. We will be learning about life cycles in science, and how to be a part of a community in social studies. Get ready! Get Ready!

My favorites:

favorite color: purple

favorite dinner: meatloaf with cabbage, and cornbread with candied yams

favorite season: winter

favorite animal: elephant

favorite resturant: Olive Garden

hobbies: spending time with my family, watching the tide roll in and out!

    Greetings Parents!

We will start the week off getting to know each other through activites, games and conversations. Our enhancements this year are weekly. Our first enhancement is Media, in this enhancement, students will learn how to use the Media center, check out books, and enhance their love of reading ! Technology, students will use various media to become more imaginative, creative, and artistic as they investigate the world around them. Arts and Literacy, in this class students blend the love of reading Literature and Art in all forms of arts and connects the two to help engage students in understanding more about the fine arts. Steam is our enhancement  where our students become innovators. They will use their critical thinking skills to help build and solve problems as they create our future! Music is where they will learn about notes, sounds and have a better understanding of music . Our last rotation of enhancements is  PE. In PE, the students will do various physical exercises  to increase their body strength for endurance and growth. They will also learn how to better take care of their body.
