Mrs. Samantha Yurkewicz
Hello! Welcome to Mrs. Yurkewicz's website! I am super excited to be starting out my third year as a teacher in 3rd grade teacher at Cooper! I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania called Johnsonburg. I attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania for my bachelors degree in both Early Childhood and Special Education. A few things about me are that I love animals, I love to read books, and I love art. This is my third year at Cooper and I am so excited! One thing I love about teaching is that I continually learn along with the students. I look forward to working with you and your child during one of the most exciting and challenging elementary grade levels!

JCPS transitions to Plan B for all students
The Johnston County Board of Education voted to return all Pre-K and EC-Self Contained students to Plan B, four days per week, beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 19. These students will participate in face-to-face instruction on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Wednesday serving as a remote learning day. All other students in grades K-12 will remain on Plan C until Monday, Feb. 1.

High School State Assessments Update
On December 8th 2020, the Johnston County School Board of Education voted to return to Plan C (Remote Learning), we would like to provide an update to parents and guardians of options to complete state-mandated End-of-Course (EOC) and Career/Technical Education Post Assessment testing.

Second Semester Choice Form
Every JCPS parent was to fill ou the Second Semester Choice form to choose either the Virtual Program OR face-to-face instruction for each of their students by Monday, Nov. 30. If you were unable to fill out the form by Nov. 30 please contact your child's school for assistance. The form was to be filled out for ALL students in grades PreK-12.

Innovation Academy Applications & Info
The application window for our current 5th grade students to apply to the Innovation Academy for 6th grade in the 2021-2022 school year is now available. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15th.

Targeted Support & Improvement
We are sharing information with our families about the Targeted Support & Improvement State Level guidance for schools who have underperformed on state-wide assessments during the past few years. Of course, last year we did not have End-of-Grade testing in North Carolina due to COVID-19 school closures.
