I am Clara I. Garcia. I am from Colombia. I have been teaching for 24 years, this is what I love to do, this is my happy place. I love teaching kids. I love teaching kindergarten.This is my fourth year in Cooper teaching Spanish in the dual language program. I have always thought that the most important things for life we learn them in kindergarten, that's why I always wake up thinking in how to be a better person for my students.
I am married. Mother of two. I love to be with my family and travel to new places.

Innovation Academy Applications & Info
The application window for our current 5th grade students to apply to the Innovation Academy for 6th grade in the 2021-2022 school year is now available. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15th.

Targeted Support & Improvement
We are sharing information with our families about the Targeted Support & Improvement State Level guidance for schools who have underperformed on state-wide assessments during the past few years. Of course, last year we did not have End-of-Grade testing in North Carolina due to COVID-19 school closures.

JCPS transitions to Plan B for all students
The Johnston County Board of Education voted to return all Pre-K and EC-Self Contained students to Plan B, four days per week, beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 19. These students will participate in face-to-face instruction on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Wednesday serving as a remote learning day. All other students in grades K-12 will remain on Plan C until Monday, Feb. 1.

High School State Assessments Update
On December 8th 2020, the Johnston County School Board of Education voted to return to Plan C (Remote Learning), we would like to provide an update to parents and guardians of options to complete state-mandated End-of-Course (EOC) and Career/Technical Education Post Assessment testing.

Second Semester Choice Form
Every JCPS parent was to fill ou the Second Semester Choice form to choose either the Virtual Program OR face-to-face instruction for each of their students by Monday, Nov. 30. If you were unable to fill out the form by Nov. 30 please contact your child's school for assistance. The form was to be filled out for ALL students in grades PreK-12.
